Located at the heart of Istanbul's historical peninsula, surrounded by the ancient city walls and with views of two of the most magnificent masterpieces of world architecture, Ha gia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, Hotel Armada offers
a unique experience to the visitor. Open for service since 1994, the
building was constructed on the site of a series of row houses which were
built for the marine soldiers of the famed Ottoman Admiral Hayrettin Pasha
(Barbarossa) in the 16th century. In reconstructing the building old
engravings depicting the houses were used as the houses themselves were
completely demolished during a fire and Armada was designed to the facade
architecture of its original. Elements of modern comfort and convenience
have been carefully blended into the historical atmosphere both in the
exterior and in the interior design. The hotel features Armada Sera restaurant and Reis and Levent conference rooms. Hotel Armada has created a different kind of atmosphere in the ancient district of Ahirkapi, setting a successful example to the restoration of more historical buildings in the area, which are one by one being returned back to life. With new and different locations such as Armada Garden, Sabahattin The Fisherman, Ahirkapi Pastry Shop and Alafranga Restaurant, Armada has set a contemporary example of the "cluster model", which is deeply rooted in the traditional Turkish urban architecture...The rooms, decorated in the Ottoman style with traditional Edirnekapi woodwork painting, are a graceful blend of past and present and offer all modern amenities; central heating and cooling, direct dial telephone, minibar, cable television, hair dryers and private safety boxes. There are 110 rooms, 16 of which are interconnected and 2 are fully equipped for wheelchair access. Armada Teracce The Terrace is a beautiful, rooftop retreat with spectacular views of the Sea of Marmara and the Bosphorus on one side, and the Blue Mosque and the St. Sophia on the other. The Terrace is open all summer as a restaurant and bar, where you can enjoy a fine meal, relax with a drink, or just come to admire the views. The Terrace (summer only) can host 250 people with for dinner and 300 people for cocktail arrangements. Armada Sera The magnificent views can also be enjoyed during the winter in the glassed-in Sera Restaurant on the terrace which serves traditional Istanbul cuisine in a beautiful setting. The Sera can accommodate 80 people for dinner and 120 people for cocktail arrangements. Ahirkapi Restaurant The Ahirkapi Restaurant has hosted many local cultural events with its traditional Istanbul turn of the century design and cuisine. Every weekend you can enjoy live music from the Rembetiko group playing traditional Turkish and Greek music, and an assembly of musicians playing "fasil" traditional songs from Istanbul. Every Sunday is "Tango Night" when local people come to celebrate, dance, and recapture the spirit of the 1930's, a time when the tango was much loved by Istanbul citizens. Radio Bar With its permanent display of 50s and 60s radios the Radio Bar evokes the atmosphere of a bygone era. Radio bar hosts special events such as birthday parties, special parties... Sabahattin, The Fisherman Sabahattin is originally from Trilye (Zeytindag, Mudanya) to the southeast of the Sea of Marmara and comes from a family who appreciates the sea and its fish. He now welcomes guests in this traditional wooden frame house all year round, with his sons always at hand to help him… During the summer months, some of the tables spill out onto the street. Armada Garden The garden of an old wooden house restored to revitalize traditional Istanbul garden culture... There is a small fountain, old style stone oven, and bay, mulberry and sour cherry trees where you can sit and enjoy special grilled and oven baked dishes while listening to live traditional Turkish music. The Armada Garden (summer only) can seat 150 people for dinner and 250 people for cocktail arrangements...
