September 15, 2004  "A Hotel as Lovely as Its Name"

WR ,New York, New York

If you like small hotels, Poem is an excellent moderately-priced hotel. It's very clean, homey, and quiet-- away from street noises. At the same time, it's walking distance to some of the great places to see in Istanbul-- Aya Sofiya, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazzar, etc. -- and to the many affordable restaurants in the area. There is a small terrace on top of the hotel, which offers a fantastic view (especially at night) of the Bhosporus, Aya Sofiya, and the Blue Mosque. A perfect setting for writing a poem while nursing your Turkish coffee! (Management encourages you to write a poem for the hotel, which will be immortalized in the hotel's book of poems displayed in the lobby.
